Active Shooter Exercise Announcement

There will be an active threat training exercise at the Taylor County High School on September 17, 2018, from 7:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. The high school campus will be closed to the public during the exercise: Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS and other First Responders will be participating. There will be Police, Sheriff, Fire and Ambulance vehicles clearly visible along with other vehicles necessary to conduct this very important training.

The purpose of this event is to evaluate and improve the school district’s response to an active threat of any kind on campus. The exercise will involve simulated, real world scenarios along with simulated victims that will be in full makeup. Students will not be on campus, this is a teacher planning day.

There will be limited access to the Taylor County High School with roads around and near the school blocked off. Traffic detours will be in place to ensure that no unauthorized persons are able to gain access to the school.

Due to safety concerns, the public is asked to stay away from the school during this time of training. Much effort is being put into this exercise to ensure that we can protect our most valuable resource: our children.

If you have questions please, call Chris Olson at the Taylor County Superintendent’s office at 850-838-2500. Remember, this is just a drill and all events are simulations, this is a training exercise.
